Dear Parents and Guardians:
I want to welcome you to the new 2010-2011 school year. As in the past, we are utilizing our electronic communications systems to send out the information you will need to start the new school year. Some information is already on the WCS website and some may have been sent to you through the mail or email. Please review the Student Handbook posted on the website and return the signed acknowledgement form to your child’s school. Also, please be sure we have your correct contact information, if it has changed, so we can keep our records up to date.
School starts for students on Tuesday, September 7 for Grades 1 through 12. Kindergarten starts on Wednesday, September 8 and Pre-K starts on Thursday, September 9.
This Fall, we will be working on finalizing the Draft District Improvement Plan to be presented to the School Committee this Wednesday, September 8th at 5 pm in the WHS Cafeteria. This important piece of the Strategic District Plan will carry us through our improvement efforts for the next 3 years.
This year, I intend to continue holding Superintendent's Coffees on a monthly basis - so mark your calendars for September 15th at the WMS. This is an opportunity for you to find out what is going on in the district on an informal basis. It will also allow you to ask questions and interact more freely. I will post more information on the website after school starts - so stay tuned!
I look forward to working with you and seeing the students again in a few days. The schools are not the same without them in the hallways.
