Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment:  A comprehensive curriculum review and revision process is underway to ensure that all Westport students receive a 21st century, standards-based education. This on-going process will involve the efforts of teachers and instructional leaders, as well as oversight of the District’s Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Leadership Committee (CIALC).

As teachers throughout the District build a strong Standard I (Curriculum and Planning) foundation, the Office of Curriculum will work collaboratively with other instructional leaders to improve Standard II (Teaching all Students) instructional strategies. All of these initiatives are supported by strategically-aligned professional development, intended to build the capacity of the District’s educators.

Grants Management – Several grants fall under the purview of the Office of Curriculum, including program-specific grants such as Project Lead the Way, in addition to the federal Entitlements (Titles I, II, IV). The Office of Curriculum will work to support the interests of teachers and district leaders when grant opportunities are identified.

Accountability – The Office of Curriculum also works with school and district leaders to ensure that the District is in compliance with important state and federal regulations, and also to ensure that the District maintains a strong reputation in the eyes of all stakeholders, from parents and families to DESE.
